The Sharp X68000, a beautiful (and high-end) Japanese home computer of the late 80s. Based around the Motorola 68k processor (what a surprise), it had audio and video hardware very similar to (and it some cases, better than) arcade hardware of the time, allowing for nearly perfect arcade ports, and a number of original games to boot!What I'd do for a MicroATX case like that...

What I'd do for a MicroATX case like that...
That's a lovely case.
An interesting note is the monitor. It had RGB inputs (don't confuse RGB with YPbPr, or "component" video, the Red-Green-Blue cables that most modern TVs support), just like JAMMA compatible arcade boards use. Due to that, and the monitor's high display quality, many Japanese arcade enthusiasts hook them up to arcade games!

In this picture, you can partially see the extracted carrying handle.
Here's a complete system, probably scanned from a magazine ad or something like that.
This is a dangerously VIP room, but dear lord the JPEG compression is just disgusting
Japanese artists seem to love sneaking the X68k into their works.
I'm sure you've all seen this one before.
>>9086I haven't.
>>9087Really? I thought it'd made it round the internet already.Shit, there's too many of them!

Shit, there's too many of them!
( ゚Д゚) We're surrounded!
Oh, I don't think you'll be going anywhere, VIPPER. Guards! Restrain him!
I wish I were good enough at electronics and general hardware hacking to take current technology and make it look like it was designed between 1940 and 1995. But I don't think there'd really be a market to justify the investment in taking this hobby, if people are gonna drop serious money on unique hardware hacks they'd prefer the overdone irony of steampunk designs ;_;
>>9083The JPEG compression is the best part.
Damn you Vippers make me want to have this case so bad.
Just found this.
I remembered this beautiful machine the other day and happened upon this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cwvr-5Gbvk
